ABACUS

An arithmetic method based on the principles of abacus calculation, abacus maths is considered to be one of the fastest ways of calculating and learning maths. Faster than a calculator, not only does abacus maths gift young learners the opportunity to shine in the language of maths from a really young age, but it also provides a solid foundation for learning the language of maths in primary and high school.

The abacus mental picture training increases memory power and sharpens mental formation of a child. The speed training enables the child to gain better reflexes. In addition, the speed hearing training encourages the child to give full attention to study by listening more attentively and effectively. The outcome for the abacus math program is brighter kids.

VEDIC MATHS
Vedic Mathematics is the name given to the ancient system of Indian Mathematics which was rediscovered from the Vedas. These formulae are based upon how the mind naturally works and are therefore a great help to direct the student. It deals with various Vedic mathematical formulae and their applications for carrying out tedious and cumbersome arithmetic operations and executing them mentally.

The Vedic system presents a new approach to mathematics, offering simple, direct, one line, mental solutions to mathematical problems. They are easy to remember, easy to understand and a delight to use. This approach provides a corrective methodology to the problem of mental slavery to calculations. The simplicity allows for the calculations to be carried out mentally, simplifying large multiplications into one line answers instead of engaging in the tedious school taught method.

CALLIGRAPHY
Calligraphy is a form of visual art and is often referred to as an art of stylish handwriting. Calligraphy is the art of expressing thoughts with beauty, harmony and peace. The significance of calligraphy is that it enhances creativity in one’s handwriting, improves concentration, develops artistic skills and increases patience.

Legendary Steve Jobs has given credit to calligraphy for being what he was in his profession. He stated “If I had never dropped in on that single calligraphy course in college, the Mac would have never had multiple typefaces or proportionally spaced fonts. The recent diverse applications of Calligraphy extend to paintings, maps, legal documents, cut stone inscriptions, ceramics, memorial documents and other handmade presentations.

HANDWRITING
Handwriting for kids starts with scrawls and crayons, and at that time there is not much attention paid on their handwriting. But as they progress from crayons to pencil and then to pen, handwriting becomes reflection of their personality. Handwriting helps build a child’s confidence in their writing abilities.

At MLM we give due importance to handwriting as handwriting activates visual perception of letters, develops visual-motor skills such as eye-hand coordination which are associated with academic achievement. Handwriting is a predictor of success in other subjects, because good handwriting has a positive impact on grades. Without fast and legible handwriting, students may miss out on learning opportunities and under-achieve academically.
